DIY tips for fitting and finishing plastics
Different types of plastic have different finishing and mounting options. Some products like HPL cladding panels are easy to mount by drilling, while other plastics like Polycarbonate thrive better with the use of silicone sealant.
Each type of plastic in our range reacts differently to temperature changes. For example, an HPL facade panel may expand or shrink due to temperature differences, while a panel made of Alupanel-Dibond literally and figuratively do not get hot or cold from influences. It is good to take this into account when fitting so that your plastic sheet does not crack, for example.
For all types of plastic, we recommend not cutting the product to size yourself. Not only because it is very difficult with a product Plexiglas XT, for example, but mainly because we do it for you. Free of charge and to the millimetre!
Finally, we have our DIY inspiratiepagina. On this page, you will find lots of others' completed projects. Besides the product selection, you will also find a brief summary of the assembly process. Get inspired and see how and when people use our plastic products!
Plastic maintenance
Plastic is characterised by low maintenance. None of the plastic products in our range require intensive maintenance. Often, using average household products is enough to make the product shine again. What all plastic sheets do have in common is that they hate abrasives or other corrosive substances. Therefore, swap the scouring pad for a simple cloth and leave the CIF and opt for green soap, for example.
Common applications of plastic
The applications of our product are incredibly diverse, but can be reduced to solidity and durability. Plastic is weather- and moisture-resistant, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, from bathrooms to kitchens and from carports to fascia boards.
We also see plastic in other commonly used products such as the strong Polycarbonate in CDs and the Alupanel-Dibond that is causing a furore in the advertising world.
Of course, there is also a multitude of local projects using plastic material. For example, would you like to take care of your fascia with an HPL cladding panel, or make a planter that not only looks sleek, but also lasts a very long time. In short, the range of applications of plastic material is endless. So what are you waiting for and start your own project, with a little help from us!
