MDF Black V313 is a good choice when you want to make a piece of furniture in a dark colour. The sheet is black through and through, which ultimately saves time on finishing in the desired colour. Then choose one of the available (edge) finishes.

MDF Black V313: what is it?

You choose MDF black V313 when you want to create a project in a dark colour. In MDF black V313, the wood fibres are mixed with a black pigment, which makes the board black to the core. This is also called fully coloured MDF. However, this does not mean that the sheet is jet-black, as the wood fibres provide a blended appearance. In order to get the material to be fully evenly black, painting is still necessary. Finishing in the right colour takes little time, because the sheet has been produced moisture resistant and already has the right colour. The V313 characteristic comes from the test for moisture resistance that the sheet material undergoes, which is called V313. It indicates that the sheet is not only moisture resistant, but also resistant to water and mould. Note, the sheet is not waterproof! Moisture-resistant MDF sheets are composed of dried wood fibres and glue. These wood fibres are then pressed together under high pressure and temperatures to form an MDF sheet. With MDF moisture resistant, a special moisture-resistant adhesive is used. In order to strengthen its moisture-resistant properties, the material is compressed under a higher pressure compared to MDF natural. Because of the extra hard pressing, this type of wood is easy to work with and generally just a bit stronger than MDF Natural.

MDF black V313 is a structural sheet. This means that this sheet material still needs the necessary finishing before it can be used for visual applications. This sheet is not suitable for outdoor applications.

Available thicknesses of MDF black V313

Black MDF can be ordered in different thicknesses. You can easily specify your desired thickness during the ordering process. This way you can be sure that the sheet material meets your requirements: both the size and thickness of the material. The following thicknesses are available: 6 mm, 9 mm, 12 mm, 16 mm, 18 mm and 22 mm.

Machining MDF black V313 sheets

Black MDF is very easy to work with: when milling and sawing, the material does not splinter. In order to do justice to the Black properties of black MDF, it is important that the sheet is properly sealed. The top and bottom sides can be sealed with a coat of lacquer. The sheet edges deserve extra attention. MDF fibres naturally have an absorbent effect. In the case of MDF moisture resistant, this is less than with MDF natural, but it is still important to treat it with an edge sealer.

Specific applications of MDF black V313

You use MDF Black V313 in dry and humid environments, for example for a bathroom cabinet that you want to paint in a dark colour or when building kitchens. MDF is the material of choice for furniture and interior applications. Think of furniture, window sills, speaker boxes or partitions. It is also suitable as finishing wood.
