FAQ

Which wooden boards are best to choose?

Are you looking for a panel with a natural look? Then there are several options. When you choose a certain type of panel material, there is no right or wrong, only the choice of which panel best suits your taste and project. You make that choice based on availability, appearance and product properties. Read along?

When we talk about wood panels, we are talking about board material that is composed of real wood layers or with a real wood top layer. Examples include plywood, solid panels or panels with a veneer top layer.

The final choice may depend on several important features. A few are named below:

  1. Do you need a specific thickness? Not all panels are available in every thickness. Always check first via the filters on our category page which panels are available in your desired thickness.
  2. Delivery time: Is delivery time essential for your project? Controleer dan hier welke houtsoorten we snel kunnen leveren
  3. Decide what kind of look you are looking for? Do you want a coarse, present flame or do you want a rustic look? Each wood species has its own charm. Check product images and wood species descriptions carefully to find out if the look suits your project.
  4. Will the material be in a room where the temperature changes? Then go for a stable core board such as MDF with a veneer finish. Wooden panels such as plywood and panels constructed from slats can warp quickly with temperature changes.
  5. Are the edges important to you? Then check the construction of the slab. This is a matter of taste, but can make just the difference of plate choice in some cases.
  6. Do you have a specific budget? Wood is a natural product, the price is determined by availability and popularity. Some wood species are generously available in Europe and others in much lesser sizes. In that case, look at the cheaper wood species such as spruce and pine, order a sample and see if you can create the same look when you finish a cheaper panel with a specific stain or oil.

Besides real wood panels, there are also panels with a melamine wood look. These panels are often cheaper, do not require finishing and are scratch-resistant. Only they do not have the unique look and feel of a piece of nature in your home. Isn't the latter important for your project? Lees dan hier eventueel meer over melamine.
