This DIY project showcases the result of a Christmas tree made from custom-milled circles of MDF. This allows space to decorate the tree with a collected Christmas village. An incredibly creative idea for the holidays! Read on for more about the approach to this project.

Description by F.C.H.

We were tired of the traditional Christmas tree, so we sold it. This year, we wanted something new, a "Christmas tree" made of round plates with scenes on them. The whole thing needed to be easy to set up and take down. Additionally, I didn't want it to be too heavy, as it also needed to be easy to store. In this case, you have 6 round plates with a hole in the middle, making it easy to hang against the wall. Everything is also simple to assemble.

How I Made This Project

Making a tree of 6 circles without a "workshop" is tricky. A quick Google search led me to TOSIZE.ie. The only place where you can realize both large and small projects. Also, the only place where I could specify 6 different sizes to be made as one order. The 6 circles ranging from 100-90-80, and so on down to 50.0 cm in diameter, made of 9mm MDF, had to be perfectly round, which I cannot do myself. Immediately had a hole of around 35mm made in the middle. All this for a surprisingly low price. In the middle, a wooden 35mm pole, with a 40.0 cm PVC spacer between the circles. For stability, this was done at 3 equal distances with a 19mm PVC pipe, with 22mm PVC spacer sleeves slid over them. Above and below, the 19mm pipes were fixed with a steel wall plug to the top and bottom plate. This makes it quite easy to disassemble and store again. Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos, but this is a very simple job (apart from the scenes). Provided, of course, you have perfectly round circles. And I managed to get that for a nice price thanks to TOSIZE.ie, and then just decorate.

Dimensions of My DIY Project

The sizes are round, diameters, 100.0 / 90.0 / 80.0 / 70.0 / 60.0 / 50.0 cm.
Total height, without legs, 208.1 cm.
There is a 40.0 cm space between the plates.
