Processing instructions for solid board material

Humidity

It is important that solid wood is stored and processed in an environment where the relative humidity is between 40% and 60%. This is because wood absorbs moisture faster than it releases it. Is the air drier or more humid? Then the panel may warp; the wood will start to work.

By comparison: ideal humidity in the house is also between 40% and 60%. So don't store the material in a damp shed until you start working with it, but keep it inside the house. After you have protected your project with a lacquer or oil, it will be protected against any changes in humidity and less likely to warp.

Still warped? Then turn the panel over, put something heavy on it if necessary and make sure it is in the right environment (humidity). The panel will straighten again, and you can still use it for your job!

Sanding

The panels have been lightly sanded and need to be re-sanded. By handling the panel (picking it up with a forklift, putting it through the sawing machine, transporting it in a truck), scratches may appear on the surface. To make your panel completely flawless, it is therefore important to first sand it with a fine grit; at least 180.

This way, you not only sand away any scratches, but also any discolouration of the untreated wood. It is a natural product, which means it will discolour over time. Also, because it simply sits in the warehouse. When you sand the panel well, the original colour of the wood will come back to the fore, allowing you to immediately protect it with a lacquer or oil, for example.

Protection

It is crucial to protect the panel! You can use a lacquer or oil, for example, depending on the effect you want to achieve. Get advice from a paint shop and pay close attention to the processing instructions of the protection product you use.
