A black oak custom-made TOSIZE furniture cupboard with TV niche, by Jörgen

In this DIY project, Jörgen shows how he designed and assembled a TOSIZE furniture cabinet. He chose black oak furniture panel; so he didn't have to paint and could enjoy his closet straight away. Read more about his approach and experience below.

Description of Jörgen

We had our own design of storage furniture / cupboard made. There is also a TV compartment for a 65 inch TV. We wanted a number of compartments with doors at the bottom and the rest with open compartments to put beautiful things in. I also made compartments for active speakers and for a record player. All cables are concealed behind the cabinet. The boxes are symmetrical to the left and right of the TV. I measured the compartments for the equipment in advance so that it fit properly. I divided the other subjects based on feeling.

How I made this project

We had an idea for a shelving unit in our new-build home. After advice, we opted for a cabinet made of black furniture panels. We created the design via the design tool on the site. All wooden panels cut to size were coded with stickers. On the supplied construction drawing you could see exactly which part should go where. You assemble the cabinet with dowels and wood glue. There is a compartment for a 65 inch TV. I made Ikea cabinet lighting in it myself with a remote control that can turn the lighting on and off and dim it.

Dimensions of my DIY project

300.0 cm wide by 270.0 cm high (our ceiling is 2.85 m high). I had the compartment for the TV made 7 cm deep. All cables are concealed behind the cabinet.
