Anton demonstrates in this DIY project how he created a truly unique wall of cabinets. By combining existing (IKEA) cabinets with custom-cut MDF panels.

Description by Anton

A new wall of cabinets for books and beautiful objects deserving a place in the living room. The combination is made up of an old cabinet, IKEA cabinets, and painted MDF shelves.

How I Made This Project

The idea for a new cabinet arose when decluttering and organizing began in early 2023. All cabinets throughout the house were first emptied, then disassembled, and placed in the covered area. Books, beautiful objects, files, and everything scattered throughout the house in cabinets were gathered and placed together by topic. Only then do you realize how many things are (secretly) collected over the years. Just the number of photo frames that were stacked together... the decision was made that only things deserving a spot would have a place in the new cabinet. Searched Pinterest for inspiration, and thus the cabinet became a place for cherished and useful books (guides, cookbooks, etc.) and beautiful objects. The combination of old cabinet/IKEA/MDF shelves was devised one evening at the dining table with a lot of drawing, cutting, and pasting. The final result is even more beautiful than we expected, and we are super happy with our new unique cabinet.

Dimensions of my DIY project

The cabinet on the short wall is 56.0 cm. The shelf above the window is 104.0 cm. The cabinet on the long wall is 234.0 cm.
