Description by Femke

Our 10-year-old daughter wanted a bed with a 'hut' on top where she can chill with her friends. A desk was also a must-have. And as a child, you can never have too much storage space, so lots of drawers and cabinets to store all her stuff make for a cozy and peaceful atmosphere.

How I made this project

As a base, we bought two loft beds from the Swedish furniture store, via Marktplaats. One bed is halfway on top of the other. On the right side, the upper bed is supported by custom-made plywood cabinets. Underneath the bed, we made bed drawers, partly using existing drawers to which we gave new fronts, and partly newly made with plywood. The desk is supported on one side by a beam mounted on the wall. On the other side, we made a cabinet on which the desk rests. All cabinets are made with 18 mm plywood. The desk surface is made of 30 mm plywood. For the wardrobe, we reused old Pax drawers by giving them a new front.
