Remko wanted a room divider in his bedroom and decided to make this room divider completely custom himself. For this, he created a design, ordered custom MDF, and got to work. The final result of this custom room divider in his bedroom is impressive!

Description by Remko

A room divider to separate the sleeping area and the clothing area. The partition also serves as a nightstand / bookshelf. The electrical features give it a hotel look. On the other side, a power outlet is installed so that a vanity table with lighting can be placed there, where you can also dry your hair.

How I made this project

First off, I am an amateur. I searched first to see if there were any existing furniture or designs. In the end, I started sketching myself because I found the idea too simple to have a furniture maker do it. After conceptualizing the idea, I thought about how the construction should look. To keep the calculations simple, I based it on 1cm thick MDF. Then I ordered the boards cut to size. They were delivered with a sticker indicating their place in the design. Of course, you have to specify this in the order. Then I ordered some 20/30 softwood and it was just a matter of screwing. Drill out the electrical points, connect them and done. Prime and paint, voila! The case is a box of 200.0 x 170.0 x 40.0 with an open inner box of 176.0 x 170.0 x 30.0. That additional inner box, which is made to the full height, also provides the stability needed for 1 cm MDF.
