A Colorful Sliding Door Wardrobe for the Room
In his search for a unique and practical storage solution, Paul designed this colourful sliding door cabinet, perfect for the room. At just 100 cm high, it fits snugly against the wall without dominating the space. Ideal for books, games and other items that you want to keep out of sight but still have within reach.
Inspired by the Eames Storage Units
The inspiration for this design comes from the iconic storage furniture of the famous designer duo Charles and Ray Eames. In 1947, they developed the 'Eames Storage Units': a modular series of furniture with sliding doors, among other things, which have since been relaunched by Vitra. Paul was inspired by these classics, but gave them his own twist. Instead of the characteristic layout of the Eames cabinets, he opted for a version with sliding doors directly underneath each other. A subtle nod to the original, but with a character all its own.
The Construction of the Cabinet
This cabinet is constructed from beautiful Multiplex Poplar Birch B/BB veneered wood, finished with cheerful yellow and orange perforated hardboard panels. The bright colours give a playful touch and make the cabinet a real eye-catcher in the room. Thanks to the subtle metal legs, the whole thing gets a modern, airy look.
Beautiful Application in the Room
By placing it in the corner of the room, Paul makes the most of the space. The light wood colour with the bold coloured panels works as a statement piece without visual overload. Perfect for anyone who wants to give their interior a personal touch.
Custom Made From TOSIZE.ie
Thanks to TOSIZE.ie, Paul was able to have the wood cut to size. This ensured that each panel would fit neatly into place, without any additional cutting. This not only saved time, but also precision and ensured a sturdy and sleek finish. The ease of supplying exact measurements led to a result that Paul is rightly proud of.
Benefits of Making Your Own
Making your own furniture offers many advantages: from adjusting the dimensions to your own taste, to choosing your favorite materials and color combinations. Moreover, it is often more budget-friendly and gives a huge satisfaction when you see what you have made with your own hands.
Playful Modern Style
The cabinet exudes a modern playfulness thanks to the bright colour choices and the use of perforated panels. This style not only adds personality to the room, but also invites you to spend more time in your living space.
Multiplex Poplar Birch B/BB Veneered
This type of wood is extremely versatile, strong and has a natural look. The light birch veneer fits all interior styles, from modern to rustic. Because it is sustainable, it gives your project a long life.
Hardboard Perforated White
The perforated panels are not only decorative, but also functional. They make the cabinet more airy and add an interesting texture, without compromising stability. A smart choice for any creative DIYer.
