Hollow wall shelves and custom seat in MDF, by Karin

Karin has created beautiful and functional hollow wall shelves using MDF cut at an angle. By attaching slats to the wall, these hollow wall shelves slide into place effortlessly.

I built in three IKEA Pax wardrobes and created a wall-filling furniture unit by adding a seating area and bookshelves. There is also electrical wiring inside the cabinet for charging phones, etc.

How I Made This Project

I hung the wardrobe doors slightly higher to accommodate the skirting board. I closed the gap between the cabinet and the ceiling with slats from the hardware store. I used custom-cut wood for the hollow wall shelves and the seating area. The hollow wall shelves were created by assembling planks cut at an angle. I painted all the shelves and the seating area the same color as the wall.
