Description by Ron

I've made a storage chest for garden cushions. This storage chest is designed to accommodate 10 garden cushions. To increase usability, the storage chest has a lid that is easy to open and close.

How I Completed This Project

Here's a step-by-step guide for making a garden chest for lounge set cushions:

  1. Determine the dimensions of the garden chest based on the size of your lounge set cushions. Ensure that the chest is spacious enough to store all the cushions.
  2. Cut the wooden planks to size according to the determined dimensions. You'll need planks for the bottom, the sides, the front, the back, and the lid of the chest.
  3. Sand the edges and surfaces of the planks smooth with sandpaper to prevent splinters.
  4. Assemble the side panels to the front and back of the chest using screws. Ensure that the planks are securely attached to each other.
  5. Attach the bottom plank to the side panels and ensure it is securely fastened.
  6. Attach hinges to the back of the chest to mount the lid. Ensure that the hinges are securely attached to both the lid and the back of the chest.
  7. Test the lid to ensure it opens and closes smoothly.
  8. Check the sturdiness of the chest and ensure all parts are securely attached.
  9. Optional: Paint or stain the chest in a color that matches your garden or patio. This will protect the chest from weathering and make it look more appealing.
