Description

Plywood panels can be used for countless different projects. Plywood birch is the most popular variant of plywood, as it has a beautiful appearance and is also a strong wood species. It is waterproof glued and a durable choice. (Partition) walls, table tops, counter tops and furniture are just a few examples of the projects for which plywood birch can be used. This variant is finished with a melamine top layer on both sides. This is a thin plastic layer glued onto the birch. This layer is computer-generated. The advantage of this is that both top layers have a perfect, high-quality birch top layer. Therefore, the sight quality does not apply to these panels. The edges of these panels still need to be finished.

Plywood Birch Melamine: what is it?

Plywood birch is the most popular variant of plywood for indoor use because it is the best choice in terms of quality. It is glued waterproof as standard and has a clearer wood grain compared to poplar plywood. Moreover, birch is a hardwood species. This plywood sheet is much harder than poplar, a softwood species. So it can take a beating! This also makes the material more durable. Plywood birch has a natural, light brown colour with sleek and decorative edges. With plywood birch, the wood grain is clearly visible, which causes the coarse flames in the wood. The wood grain pattern runs in the longitudinal direction of the sheet material by default.

Plywood birch is made up of various birch veneer layers. These layers are glued crosswise on top of each other. This results in a stable sheet. However, for the wood that is glued, during sawing and machining of plywood birch, tension may be released which may cause longer sheets to have a slight curvature.

Melamine top layer

The furniture panels have a strong and hard melamine top layer, which gives the wood panels an attractive appearance and makes the wood resistant. The melamine top layer has a high density, which also gives it its hard and strong properties. A melamine top layer is water-repellent, easy to wipe off with a cloth and to some extent heat-resistant. Properties that are very pleasant for any interior application!

In brief, the advantages of melamine faced board material once again:

  • Ready to use immediately
  • Strong and water-repellent
  • Fixed colour
  • One-to-one colour match with ABS

Available thicknesses Plywood Birch Melamine

Plywood can be ordered in different thicknesses. You can easily specify your desired thickness during the ordering process. This way you can be sure that the sheet material meets your requirements: both the size and thickness of the material. The following thicknesses are available: 9 mm, 12 mm, 15 mm and 18 mm.

Machining Plywood Birch Melamine sheets

Plywood is a sheet material that is easy to work with when you have sharp tools at your disposal. For drilling holes, we recommend a wood drill with centring tip. Pre-drilling is also recommended with this sheet material. This sheet material can discolour prematurely, so always finish it with a (clear) varnish, stain or paint. Use an edge sealer to finish the edges of plywood to prevent the lacquer or stain from being absorbed into the sheet material, which can lead to the veneer layers loosening.

Specific applications of Plywood Birch Melamine

Plywood birch is very suitable for projects such as floorboards, finishing work, moulds, but also for decorative applications such as tabletops, a counter top, a (partition) wall, furniture and toys.
