Description

Interior poplar fire-retardant plywood sheets can be used for countless different projects. Interior poplar fire-retardant plywood is the lightweight form of plywood, but still a constructively strong material. This variant has a B/BB face, so it can be used on both sides. It is used for interior carpentry. Since it is a fairly soft wood species, it is very suitable for machining. Thanks to its fire-retardant properties, it is extremely suitable for projects where fire safety plays a major role.

Poplar interior plywood fire retardant: what is it?

Interior poplar plywood fire-retardant is the plywood variant that is resistant to moisture and treated with special fire-retardant chemicals that ignite very slowly. Plywood is made up of different layers of veneer. These layers are glued crosswise to each other. The layers come from large tree trunks, where countless wood chips are glued together at right angles. Finally, the thin veneer layers are glued together under very high pressure and temperature. This results in a stable board, whereby warping is reduced.

The sheets have an attractive edge which is good for visible work. Our plywood panels are suitable for horizontal applications, such as table tops and window sills. It is important to fix plywood panels in place. If you do not do this, the chances of warping are very high.

Fire retardant properties

These panels are specially treated with fire-retardant chemicals which makes them much less flammable than traditional plywood. This means that this panel material is more resistant to fire ignition and prevents the spread of fire should a fire develop around the panel. In the event of a fire, the flames will move less rapidly and slow down the combustion. Fire retardant plywood is not considered to be non-combustible, but it can often be used instead of non-combustible materials in certain situations.

The protective layer is applied in such a way that it does not affect the wood structure of the interior poplar panels. It therefore simply retains its natural and attractive wood colour.

Visibility quality BB/BB

The quality of plywood surface layers is indicated by letter combinations and refers to the visual assessment of plywood wood. There is a letter designation for the visible side (top) and one for the reverse side (bottom). It refers to the quality of the deck veneer, the quality of the gluing, for example, is indicated differently. Read here more about all view qualities.

This board material has the visible side BB/BB. This means that both top layers have the same visible side. A plywood panel rated BB/BB has generally a better visual quality than panels with lower ratings. The wood usually has a smooth and even surface with minimal imperfections. Colour variations, knots, repairs and other irregularities are rare and kept to a minimum.

Because of its high visual quality, plywood with BB/BB sight grade is often used in applications where aesthetics play an important role. It is used for furniture, cabinets, interior finishing, decorative projects and other applications where the wood surface is visible.

It is important to note that visibility quality may vary depending on local standards and specifications. It is advisable to consult the specific ratings and standards of the manufacturer or supplier when buying plywood to ensure that the wood meets the requirements for the intended application.

In general, plywood with BB/BB visible grade provides a high-quality and aesthetically pleasing surface for visible applications. It combines good visual quality with the inherent strength and durability of plywood.

Available thicknesses of interior plywood poplar fire-retardant

You can order plywood in different thicknesses. You can easily specify your desired thickness during the ordering process. In this way, you can be sure that the sheet material meets your requirements: both the format and the thickness of the material. The following thicknesses are available: 18 mm.

Processing of plywood interior poplar fire-retardant sheets

Primed poplar plywood is a soft board material. It is easy to work with. Make sure you have sharp tools to minimise splintering. For drilling holes, we recommend a wood drill with a centre point. Pre-drilling is advisable, but not necessary. This board material can discolour over time, so finish it with a (clear) varnish, stain or paint. Use an edge sealer to finish the edges of plywood, this will prevent the varnish or stain from penetrating into the panel material, which may cause the veneer layers to peel off.

Specific applications plywood interior poplar fire-retardant

Poplar interior plywood is very suitable for projects such as dormers and wall cladding. Poplar interior plywood is also widely used in caravan construction. This fire-retardant variant is especially interesting when insurance companies expect a certain level of fire safety.
