Description

Plywood sheets can be used for countless different projects. Plywood marine primed is the variant that is suitable for outdoor use or in humid areas. This is not only because the sheet is bonded with waterproof glue, but also because the wood species is more resistant to moisture and weather influences. This variant is already primed, which saves a lot of work when painting your project.

Easily order cut-to-size plywood marine primed sheets online

Easily order cut-to-size plywood marine primed sheets online. Plywood can be cut or milled to size into various shapes. Whether it's an oval for a tabletop, a house shape for the little one's playhouse or a rectangle with bevelled edge for a cupboard under a sloping roof. You come up with it, we saw it perfectly! Do you want to have your do-it-yourself project neatly finished? Then choose one of the available (edge) finishes.

Plywood marine primed: what is it?

Plywood marine primed is the variant that is resistant to moisture and is therefore used for outdoor or humid applications. This sheet saves a lot of work because it is already primed, so you can start painting your project almost immediately. The sheet is, as with plywood birch, bonded with a waterproof glue. Marine, however, is the type of wood that is more resistant to moisture, making it more suitable for outdoor applications. Plywood is made up of various veneer layers. These layers are glued crosswise on top of each other. This results in a stable sheet.

Plywood quality B/BB

The quality of plywood surface layers is indicated by letter combinations and refers to the visual assessment of plywood wood. There is a letter designation for the visible side (top) and one for the reverse side (bottom). It refers to the quality of the deck veneer, the quality of the gluing, for example, is indicated differently. Read more about all visible qualities here

This board material has visible side B/BB. The top side has visual quality B, the underside visual quality BB. A plywood panel with face quality B/BB usually has an acceptable visual quality, but does show some imperfections. On the front (the "B" side), colour variations, small knots, repairs and other irregularities may occur, albeit to a limited extent. The reverse side (the "BB" side) may contain more imperfections, such as large knots, repairs and colour variations.

Because of its slightly lower visual quality, plywood with the visibility grade B/BB is often used in applications where aesthetics are not the highest priority. It is used for structural purposes, internal cladding, furniture construction and other applications where the visible surface is less important.

It is important to note that visibility grades can vary depending on local standards and specifications. When purchasing plywood, it is advisable to consult the specific ratings and standards of the manufacturer or supplier to ensure that the wood meets the requirements for the intended application.

In general, plywood with sight grade B/BB offers reasonable visual quality for applications where aesthetics are not a top priority. It combines functional properties with an acceptable surface that meets the basic requirements for many construction and timber projects.

Primed top layer

Plywood Marine Primed, the name says it all, is finished with a primer layer. Board material with a primed top layer offers immediate time savings and an improved finish, as the material is already pre-treated. Moreover, it is cost-saving. It is a practical and efficient choice when you want to finish your project quickly. However, bear in mind that the edges are not finished and the primer layer still needs to be sanded.

In principle, board material with a primer coating can be painted immediately. It is suitable for all paints: acrylic (water-based) and alkyd (turpentine-based). Do you want to enjoy your paintwork for longer or will the surface be used intensively? Then first apply a primer layer before applying the final coat.

Available thicknesses of plywood marine primed

Plywood can be ordered in different thicknesses. You can easily specify your desired thickness during the ordering process. This way you can be sure that the sheet material meets your requirements: both the size and thickness of the material. The following thicknesses are available: .

Machining plywood marine primed sheets

Plywood marine is a hard sheet material type. It is easy to work with when you have sharp tools. For drilling holes, we recommend a wood drill with centring tip. Pre-drilling is also recommended with this sheet material. Plywood can be finished with lacquer, stain or paint. Use an edge sealer to finish the edges of plywood to prevent the lacquer or stain from being absorbed into the sheet material, which can lead to the veneer layers loosening.

Specific applications of plywood marine primed

Marine primed is very suitable for projects such as finishing work, moulds, wall cladding, but also for decorative applications such as tabletops and cabinets.

Alternatives to marine primed

Is plywood marine primed not the right type of wood for your project or are you looking for a variant that has a natural look and is suitable for outdoor use? Then opt for plywood okoumé waterproof. Other suitable sheets for outdoor use are MDF tricoya and Trespa®. Or take a look at our other plywood sheets below:
