A plywood bar near Hanneke's kitchen

Hanneke has a kitchen that is separated from the living room by a half wall. A perfect place to create a nice little bar! She did this with birch plywood. Read more about it in this blog!

Hanneke's Bar

I created a bar attached to the existing kitchen using Birch Plywood. I thickened the edge by attaching a strip of plywood, also from TOSIZE.ie, to it. I had this strip cut at an angle by TOSIZE.ie to ensure a perfect fit!

Smart move, Hanneke! A bar like this makes use of space that you wouldn't normally utilize!

Working with Birch Plywood

Hanneke's bar is made of Birch Plywood. Plywood consists of multiple layers of solid wood, in this case, layers of birch wood, glued together crosswise. This makes it a very strong and flat sheet material. Ideal for a tabletop or, in this case, a bar! Since the material is made of wood, proper treatment is still necessary. You can do this by priming the material well before painting.

The End Result

Together with the metal leg Hanneke used, the little bar is complete. It fits so well with the kitchen that you can't even tell it wasn't there before!
