Two Mobile Workbenches, by Jochem

To be able to work comfortably in my small workshop, I built two sturdy workbenches with a base that can be rotated up so that they stand on their legs. There's also space for the entire stock of screws and bolts, there's a large vise on it, and I can store my compressor in it.

How I made this project

To start, I drew the whole thing in Fusion 360, so I knew exactly which parts I would need. The legs of the workbenches are made from composite parts of birch plywood. These are glued together in 3 layers and fixed with some small nails. When assembling, you already make space to fit the different parts together. It's handy to use a small strip for this (you can order extra, then it's exactly the same width). A recess is made in the legs in which the cabinet falls. These are 6 boards that are glued and screwed together. In the middle, there's a double for extra strength. The wheels are on a board that is exactly the same size as the bottom board of the cabinet, this also falls into a recess in the legs and is pushed down by a scissor jack. The jack can be operated through a hole in the bottom beam. This can be done with the crank, but on my jacks, a socket wrench cap also fits, which you can put in the cordless drill.

Dimensions of my DIY project

120.0 cm long, 60.0 cm deep, and 96.0 cm high

How next?

This is a project for inspiration. Because our assortment has changed, (some of) the products are no longer available.
