Every year we make something for our area with the neighbors of our neighborhood association. Last year it was bird boxes and this year it was owl boxes. We thought it would be useful to order custom-sawn sheet material from TOSIZE.ie. That was a bull's eye and saved us a lot of work. The sheet material was sent to us neatly cut to size and well packaged and we only had to concentrate on assembling the beautiful cabinets. We could also have the supplied plates provided with stickers with the names of the parts. That saved a lot of research while making the cabinets.

How I made this project

Our local bird working group gave us tips and construction examples and we also received sufficient inspiration from the many examples from the internet. To build an owl box for your neighborhood, it is wise to talk to your own local bird working group, because they can tell you exactly which type of box is most suitable for your area. This of course also depends on the owl species that is active in your area.

Dimensions of my DIY project

The dimensions of the hives are approximately 80.0 x 50.0 x 50.0 cm for the barn owl box and 80.0 x 27.0 x 27.0 for the little owl box.
