To avoid having to buy a whole new kitchen, renovating the kitchen is a good idea and a fun DIY project. In this project, Niels shows how he replaced the fronts in his otherwise good kitchen. He used moisture-resistant MDF that was cut to size and painted. This way, he replaced the fronts in a budget-friendly manner and gave his kitchen a second life.

Description by Niels

As seen in the photo of an old door, the wood of the old doors had become swollen due to moisture. These doors had been painted before, but now they looked really bad and couldn't be salvaged anymore. This webshop provided the solution, and the new doors were ordered easily. Just a little painting left, and it looks like new again! The result exceeded expectations at a low price.

How I made this project

First, I took measurements of all the doors and drawer fronts. Then, I entered them on the website and indicated which edges needed a small radius. Soon, the doors arrived, and the holes for the hinges and handles still had to be made. My handy father-in-law drilled these using the column drill. I simply copied the measurements from the old cabinets. That went quite smoothly, and in the end, I painted everything with Sikkens paint specially suitable for this kind of applications.
